Instructions

- Cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses, egg, and vanilla; stir until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
- Add boiling water and stir gently until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
